In the finale edition of #CrayonsOfLockdown, we have the guru of art & craft, Devaki! She talks about working from home while staying productive, and shares her de stress secrets
How does it feel to work from home on an extended basis?
I don’t mind it too much! 🙂 The idea of having time at home and the possibility to work around my schedule is something that i like. I definitely get more done from home! I would, however, like to have the option to come into work on and off – a 2-day from office and 3-day from home option – to see my team, my friends, have some “chai” time – but that’s really for the soul!
One thing is clear though – I still need to work on my “WFH conditioning” – cause there’s just no line between home and work – and for me, personally, that’s important! I’d like to believe there is more to life than just work!
What do you do to stay productive when working from home?
I love my lists! The first thing I do is figure out what the plan for the day is. Once I have my list, I start getting each of the tasks done. There is no better feeling than checking off items on a to-do list! It’s a great sense of accomplishment!! 🙂
There are of course days that are not so great and nothing gets done easily. When that happens, I just switch off for a bit. I take a short break – make myself a nice cup of tea and chat with some very lovely people (both from work and outside) that I am very thankful for. And just like that – everything’s all better!! 🙂
How do you de-stress yourself while working?
I “art & craft”! 🙂 That is my favourite & fail-safe de-stresser. I paint, or make some craft-y items… nothing very specific… anything that makes me feel good… even some doodling helps!! It somehow has a kind of calming effect on me!! 😛 Having the good husband at home is also quite nice – short breaks, lunch together are nice little “cheer me up”s from the monotony! 🙂
What’s one new skill you’ve learnt while being on lock down?
Hmm… not really a new skill but, I’ve been a little more organized about my cooking. Not the cooking per se but just figuring out 3 meals a day is a skill in itself! To make food that tastes good and healthy and isn’t always a repeat from the previous day option… phew… exhausting 🙂 … but I’m getting better at it! 😉
